Child Safety & Parent Information

For children ages 3–12. Mimo Learn is an engaging online learning platform where children build real skills through interactive lessons, illustrated stories, educational games, creative activities, phonics, quizzes and live classes with verified teachers. Our goal is to make learning engaging, accessible and age-appropriate while giving parents meaningful control over their child's experience.

Parents stay in control

Only an adult can create a parent account and create child profiles. Parents can:

  • Create and manage child profiles
  • Select and update a child's age
  • View their child's learning progress
  • View achievements, XP and certificates
  • View saved creative work
  • View live-class attendance
  • Control access to live classes
  • Control optional AI-assisted features when available
  • Delete a child profile

A child's age determines their recommended learning stage and helps Mimo Learn provide age-appropriate lessons, activities, stories, games and recommendations.

Open the Parent Dashboard

We collect as little child information as possible

A child profile requires only what is necessary to provide the learning experience:

  • Child display name
  • Age
  • Optional avatar

Children are not required to provide:

  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Home addresses
  • Public social profiles
  • Unnecessary personal information

Mimo Learn does not provide public child profiles or open social networking between children. Children should never be encouraged to share personal information through lessons, activities or live classes.

No advertising

Mimo Learn is designed as an ad-free learning environment for children. Children should not see:

  • Advertising banners
  • Sponsored lessons
  • Third-party advertisements
  • Behavioural advertising
  • Unnecessary third-party tracking

The experience stays focused on learning, play, creativity and discovery.

Age-appropriate learning

When a parent creates a child profile, the child's age automatically determines their learning stage. The child does not choose their own stage.

Live classes are supervised

Live classes take place between enrolled learners and verified Mimo Learn teachers. Teachers must complete the Mimo Learn teacher registration and verification process before receiving unrestricted live-class teaching privileges. Access is controlled through:

  • Teacher verification
  • Class membership
  • Child enrollment
  • Parent permissions where applicable
  • Session status
  • Secure authentication

Children should only receive access to live sessions they are authorized to attend.

Teacher access is limited

Teachers can access information necessary for teaching children enrolled in their own classes:

  • Child display name
  • Learning progress relevant to the class
  • Class activity
  • Attendance
  • Learning performance relevant to the subject

Teachers should not have access to:

  • Parent passwords
  • Parent payment credentials
  • Unnecessary parent contact information
  • Children outside their authorized classes
  • Private information belonging to unrelated families

Access is enforced by the backend, not simply hidden from the interface.

Live-class privacy

Children join live classes using their Mimo Learn display identity rather than unnecessary personal information. Live classroom features may include:

  • Teacher video and audio
  • Controlled learner microphone access
  • Controlled learner camera access
  • Raise hand
  • Restricted classroom chat
  • Screen sharing by authorized teachers
  • Collaborative whiteboard
  • Live quizzes
  • Attendance tracking

Live-class permissions are enforced server-side. A child must not be able to bypass parent permissions or classroom restrictions through the browser.

Attendance

Mimo Learn records appropriate live-session attendance information such as:

  • Class session
  • Participant
  • Join time
  • Leave time
  • Session duration

Parents can view their child's attendance history through the parent dashboard. Attendance is calculated and protected by the backend rather than relying solely on information submitted by the child's browser.

Children's learning data

Mimo Learn uses learning activity to provide progress information and age-appropriate recommendations:

  • Lessons completed
  • Quiz results
  • Stories completed
  • Game progress
  • Phonics progress
  • XP
  • Achievements
  • Certificates
  • Creative activities
  • Live-class attendance

Children must not be able to access another child's learning records. Parents may only access children associated with their own account, and teachers only the children and classes they are authorized to teach.

No open messaging between children

Mimo Learn does not provide an unrestricted social network for children. Where communication features are required for live learning, they remain controlled and appropriate to the classroom environment. Children do not have unrestricted private messaging with other children.

AI-assisted learning

Mimo Learn may introduce AI-assisted learning features in the future. Where AI features are enabled:

  • Parents should be able to control access where appropriate
  • AI services are accessed securely through the backend
  • API keys are never exposed to children or the browser
  • AI supports learning rather than replacing the teacher or parent
  • Children are not encouraged to share unnecessary personal information with AI systems

If a real AI service is not configured, the AI feature is not presented as functional.

Reporting a concern

If you have a concern about a teacher, a live class, learning content, another safety issue or your child's account, please contact Mimo Learn using the support contact associated with your account. Safety concerns are reviewed appropriately, and accounts or access may be restricted where necessary to protect learners.

  • Never share their home address
  • Never share passwords
  • Never share private contact information
  • Never share personal information with strangers

  • Follow classroom rules during live sessions

For younger learners, parents are encouraged to participate in or supervise learning sessions where appropriate.
